How do I know what Size of Rugby ball to use?

Rugby Union balls usually come in 4 sizes:

  • Size 3: Suitable for 7-9 years old. Colour-coded with Light Blue. Stellar Size 3
  • Size 4: Suitable for 10-14 years old. Colour-coded with Green. Stellar Size 4
  • Size 5: Above 15 years old. Colour-coded with Red. In some cases younger ages like 12-13-14 may start using Size 5 balls. Stellar Size 5

The colour-coding above doesn't apply when the ball is a Match Ball, in which most cases they're black&white or a dark colour.

For Rugby League refer to the below:

  • 'Mini': Size 3 equivalent. Ages up to 7 years old. Mini Trainer
  • 'Mod': Size 4 equivalent. Ages 7-9 yo. Mod Trainer
  • 'Club': Size 5 equivalent. Ages above 15 years old. Club Trainer
